Private Collection, Japan and Florida Charlene Laughing comes from a multi-generational family of weavers in the traditional Navajo techniques. Taught by her mother and grandmother, Charlene wove her first piece at age 8 and sold it to a trading post in Crystal, New Mexico, to buy clothes and shoes for school. Since then she has become an award-winning weaver and her work is known for its high quality and exquisite detail. The Laughing weavers dye their own wool using plants, nuts, and other natural materials. Their inspiration comes from classic Navajo designs but with their own sensibility, and rendered with technical mastery.
Excellent condition.
