Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Oil on board, signed at lower right, presented in a wood frame.

DOA 24 x 27 1/2 in.

Michael Parkes studied graphic art and painting at the University of Kansas. He began painting in the Abstract Expressionist style which evolved, over time, into Magical Realism. After traveling to India in search of philosophical illumination, Parkes developed a “meticulous style of detailed representation, which would enable him to give full expression to his inner world of images”. He draws these images from a range of world cultures and his own imagination.

A tight horizontal crazing line to the surface of the painting at the top left quadrant, minimally noticeable to the eye at normal viewing distance. A black tape is affixed to the outer edge of the board to protect the painting from the frame. A portion of this tape in the upper right corner has come loose and is visible beyond the inner edge of the frame. Overall in good estate condition.
