Paris, circa 1880s, walnut and brass campaign case with inlaid brass presentation plaque to "B. Coste / Chirurgien de la Marine" opens to a crimson upholstered interior, retaining period paper label inventory listing marked "Mathieu" with address of "113, Boulevard St. Germain, Paris," outfitted with two layers of surgical instruments, many tools feature the maker's stamps MATHIEU, MATHIEU A PARIS, or "CHARRIERE A PARIS, etc. to handle/and or steel instrument, the case edge engraved with brass maker's label Charriere A Paris.

Case 4 1/2 x 23 1/4 x 14 1/4 in.; largest saw 15 in. (including handle)
