Meiji period (1868-1912), cast with archaic relief pattern ground, two shaped reserves on either side, one with a mythical kirin flying through the clouds and the other with a phoenix, jardiniere is raised on three circular stout feet, dimpled rim encircled with a wan pattern, tall narrow U shaped handles flank the body, feet secured to wooden base.

Wear, rust, patina to interior, exterior with some surface wear, mainly limited to flat portion of rim; some scattered areas with white; a hole has been cut in the bottom, but the section still remains with the vessel.
