First edition; first issue with "wade" instead of "wabe" in the poem "Jabberwocky" on p. 21. Rebound in full red leather, spine with raised bands and gilt lettering and decoration, all edges gilt, with marbled endpapers. 8vo; [12], [1]-224, [3]. With half-title, frontispiece with tissue guard, advertisement for works by Lewis Carroll on Q1v, and (50) illustrations by Tenniel throughout.

Through the Looking-Glass is the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and includes the well-known nonsense poem "Jabberwocky."

Boards with light discoloration and scuffing, with soiling on covers, edges, and turn-ins, small mark at tail of spine; faint staining at endpapers, pages lightly toned with occasional creasing, grime, and small or faint stain/mark, with scattered very light foxing; typical offsetting on tissue guard, small chip at tail of contents leaf, a couple of leaves with closed tear at outer margin, small fold at lower margin of P8. A good copy of this classic children's book.
