Late 18th- early 19th century, black lacquer with gilt decoration, the hinged cover is hand painted with elegant Chinese figures in lush garden setting surrounded by flora and treasure motifs, similar decoration continues along the sides, box sits on four claw feet, two side metal handles, the hinged top opens to reveal divided sections with original ivory sewing accessories, inside section pulls out to reveal empty storage space below, a smaller drawer is opens from the front with more storage.

Very good condition with some wear and cracking to lacquer on flat rim of the cover; loss and rubbing to the gilding revealing the red lacquer beneath; one cover to interior section missing its finial; two feet with repair.
