Johann Strauss II (Vienna, 1825-1899), often called "The Waltz King," is best known for composing different types of dance music, such as the waltz "The Blue Danube."
Portrait title page in good condition; toned with grime, area of soiling, light foxing, minor creasing, and corners slightly bent. Music book in fair plus condition only with significant wear to boards (especially at backstrip) and small crack at rear hinge, although still very sturdy; residue, creasing, and tears to endpapers; leaves lightly toned and foxed, with grime, creasing, offsetting, occasional small edge tear and writing in pencil, and frequent repairs; last several leaves with damp staining at top right corner, ownership signatures of the "Jackson" family on numerous leaves throughout.
