17th century, ink, colors, and gold leaf on paper, includes two illustrated manuscript pages, with writing and images to front within gold, red, and blue rules, the reverse side with more writing, presented in identical manner in black frames with mats under glass.

Frame dimensions 17 1/4 x 14 1/4 in.

From the estate of Dr. Andreas Nomikos was a teacher, artist, set designer, and professor emeritus of Theater at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was born in Alexandria Egypt in 1917 and studied at the University of Athens and the Slade School of Fine Art, London. In the 1950s he moved to New York, and designed opera sets for the City Center in New York and San Francisco Opera Company and abroad. Later, he taught at the University of Indiana at Bloomington and at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1971 until his retirement.

Pages are loose in frame secured to mat at corners; some discoloration and staining; some worm holes; one with repair to paper in right margin.
