France, third quarter 19th century, 4 inch ormolu dial with enameled Roman chapters behind a hinged beveled crystal door, the brass works signed "Japy FRERES & Cie, MED D'HONNEUR" and stamped "1516 / E.B. / 44," striking on gong coil every half and hour, within a patinated bronze Gothic style architectural domed case featuring pierced exotic bird and griffin motifs. Includes pendulum and key.
