Nicholas Fox (Chatham County, NC, 1797-1858), One Gallon Jug

Salt glazed stoneware, an ovoid form with pulled handle with finger indent, rounded lip, upper half surface features salt spotting, runs, and several kiln drips, clearly stamped "N.FOX" above "6".

11 1/4 in.

The jug clearly measures 16 cups, perhaps that is the significance of the 6. The glaze retains a lustrous surface.

Small original thin glaze filled separation line atop the handle; good condition.
