Qing dynasty (1644-1912), late 19th or early 20th century, includes a navy blue satin jacket heavily embroidered with gold and silver wrapped silk thread, featuring eight crane roundels, the hem of the jacket and sleeves is decorated with round wave pattern in gold and silver with sprays above, large blossoms populate waves, embroidered floral sprig around the neck, three frog closures to front, lined with lavender purple silk, and a red silk skirt, with the same wave and spray pattern above hem, center panel with a crane perched on a large blooming peony plant, floral sprays populate the rest of the skirt, loops to left and right on top border, unlined.

From the Estate of Colonel Howard Ravenscroft Johnson (1903-1944) Colonel Howard Ravenscroft Johnson (1903-1944) was the Commander of the US Army 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment during WWII, fought in Normandy and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. He was stationed in China in the 1930s, and began collected Asian art at that time.
