Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Likely Persian, 11th-13th century, turquoise glaze with and encrustations, a barbed style scalloped rim.
6 1/2 in., 5 in. diameter
From the collection of Thomas English Cody (1889-1948), the great nephew of Buffalo Bill Cody, and by family descent. Identified on family's appraisal from the 1940s as Chinese, Tang dynasty, but they bear more of a resemblance to Persian pottery and are likely from the same area and time period as the other pottery in the collection.
Both with nicks to scalloped rim, one with a small chip; one candlestick with repair and restoration.
