Circa 1850s, made in Philadelphia, marked "Bailey & Co / Chestnut St. Phila / 136" and with the company's pseudo hallmarks (eagle, 'U' and shield), the bold baluster form vessel features a finely hand-chased landscape with stone cottages, a bridge and birds amongst stands of trees and bushes, the handle cast as a naturalistic branch with trailing grape vine and grape clusters, a rocaille cartouche below the spout surrounds a hand-engraved monogram "JHE."
