Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Stacy, North Carolina, circa 1930, carved and painted wood.

Length 24.5 in.

From the Personal Collection of Dr. Jack Dudley

Fulcher was one of Stacy's most prolific carvers. He was a fisherman and menhaden boat captain. His father was Charlie Fulcher who carved primitive shorebirds. This large, heavy goose is one of Irving Fulcher's efforts. The finely fashioned head with carved eyes rests on a prominent neck shelf.

Second coat of gunning paint, head slightly lifted from the neck shelf.
