From the Personal Collection of Dr. Jack Dudley

Collected from the Howard family.

Lawrence Howard was a native Ocracoker, although he spent most of his lie in Pennsylvania. He left Ocracoke before 1930 and probably made most of his decoys on the island before he left Ocracoke permanently. Many of his decoys are classic root heads but some have heads carved from sawn timber. This example is widely regarded as one of the finest goose decoys to come from North Carolina.

Original paint with light gunning wear, tight age checks in the body and head.
