From the Collection of Robbin Gourley and Jeffrey Stern, New York, New York and Hillsborough, North Carolina Richard Lee was a prolific artist working on Martha's Vineyard. Born in Washington state, he studied dance in Vermont and New York. After traveling throughout the United States and abroad, Lee finally settled in Martha's Vineyard. His whimsical and mystical paintings are found in collections throughout the island. Retrospective exhibitions of Lee's work have been shown in 2021 at Martha’s Vineyard Museum in Vineyard Haven and in 2013 at the Featherstone Center for the Arts. In 2010, the Baltimore Museum of Art acquired a cabinet featuring reverse painted glass panels painted by Lee for their collection.
