Circa 1820, black ink on light wood ground, likely sycamore, the obverse lid having shield cartouche dedicate "To / John Christian [?]S / Louisa / October 14th / 1820", the exterior decorated in exotic figural vignettes and elaborate floral and foliate motifs, inlaid marquise form key escutcheon, with cast brass ring handles and paw feet, opens to twin lidded compartments with faux parquetry inkwork, with later blue upholstered interior and underside.
