Likely Scottish, each worked in wool with the same central red house flanked by two deer, with a basket of fruit and flowers above, scattered detached floral and avian motifs, and the same pious verses below flying putti carrying a crown, with a floral border. The first with brown foundation fabric, "1851" stitched above the basket and signed "Elizabeth Dixon's work / aged 12 years" (framed dimensions 25 x 28.5 in.) (discoloration, fading); the second signed "Mary Jane Blyth's work / aged 12 years, 1846" (framed dimensions 22.75 x 23 in.) (discoloration, loss to stitching, overcleaning).
