Ann Langdale's Embroidered "September" Sampler

Silk on linen foundation, exhibiting a wide range of stitch techniques, with "SEPTEMBER" to upper register, above pious verses, putti, star and crown motifs, and a row of alternating trees and full baskets, with an elaborate floral cluster to lower half, with initials "IL" and "ML" to either side, the lower register recording "Ann Langdale's Work Finished February 25th 1815", with twining carnation border. Framed.

Discoloration; fading; some very small stains; appears to have stabilization fabric added behind part of piece; the frame in poor condition. Not examined out of frame.
