Seven (7) Harry Truman Buttons with a Humorous Letter About Buttons
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
The letter, both typed and manuscript, is to a campaign button collector and is on post-presidential HARRY S. TRUMAN / INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI stationery. The typed segment on the letterhead is dated April 12, 1961 and reads "Your letter was appreciated and I wish I could comply with your request. However, I do not have any campaign buttons." As an afterthought to his handwritten signature, the former president then engages and pens "Never did have any for National Elections. Didn't have the money for 'em."

Frame is 14-3/4 x 18-3/4 in.

Overall toning to the letter, mat and buttons. A real testament to Truman's character and wit.
