Agnes Strickland (1796-1874) was an English writer and historian. Although she started her career as a poet and writer of children's books, she later turned to historical biographies and with the help of her sister Elizabeth (though uncredited) she wrote the well-known and well-researched Lives of the Queens of England.

Samuel Stout was a Victorian binder in London.

Spines uniformly sunned to green with scattered rubbing and chipping, boards with wear to extremities, joints creased with occasional rubbing and cracking; interiors with mild to moderate toning and occasional light foxing, offsetting, ownership stamp, and finger grime; a few small tears and repairs; a sturdy and about very good set.
