Mid-19th century, century the largest a lapdesk with domed hinged lid, featuring ornate Tunbridge ware inlaid strapwork flanking a diamond-form mother of pearl lozenge, inlaid brass escutcheon, interior with pen and ink compartments (5 1/2 x 9 x 12 in.); the second a sewing box or keepsake box, with inlaid diamond-form lozenge, papered interior with lift off tray (4 x 10 x 7 in.).
