Olive Black was born in Massachusetts, and later at the Art Student League and the New York National Academy of Design. Her teachers, including Hugh Bolton Jones and William Meritt Chase, influenced her use of impressionism and the Barbizon School style in her work. Black exhibited at many prominent institutions, including the National Academy of Design, the Carnegie Institute, the Boston Art Club, and the Art Club of Philidelphia.
She was a member of the National Association of Women Artists, the New York Society of Painters, the American Artists Professional League, and the Copley Society in Boston.

Good estate condition. small abrasion in upper right corner.
