Dr. Ralph E. Wileman Jr. was born in Akron, Ohio. He earned his Masters in Education from Kent State University and his PhD in Education from Columbia University in New York. Since 1968, he taught educational media at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Dr. Wileman was a talented needlepoint artist, a passionate preservationist, an eclectic collector and a highly respected member of the Chapel Hill community.
