This is one of the most recognizable and iconic images by photographer, Paul Strand. It depicts the newly-built New York Federal Hall during the morning rush hour. It is simultaneously a suggestion of financial stability through its imposing marble columns that dwarfs the figures, and an exploration of abstraction with its shapes and shadows.
Several light rubbed areas, small dent, and tiny nick to window at left; minute pinholes from hanging at margin corners; few spots; hinging tape to verso.
