Germany, 19th century, after Kaendler and Eberlein 18th century design, a lozenge shape having a reticulated upper half, the lower half molded with and finely painted with water fowl centered with a scallop shell, the unglazed underside marked with pommel crossed swords and incised '1' impressed '73'.

So-called swan service, designed by Johann J. Kaendler (1706-1775) and Johann Friedrich Eberlein (1695-1749), on behalf of Count Heinrich von Brühl, Cabinet Minister of Augustus III since 1733 and director of the Meissen manufactory.
