Ohno Bakufu was a prominent Japanese painter and printmaker known for his distinctive style that bridged traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern influences. Born in Tokyo, Bakufu initially trained in Western-style painting under Kuroda Seiki before shifting his focus to woodblock prints. His works often are characterized by bold representations of nature using delicate and detailed lines as well as harmonious use of color. Bakufu's artistic career flourished during the early 20th century, and his prints became highly regarded both in Japan and abroad, contributing significantly to the revival and evolution of Japanese printmaking traditions.

Some light even overall toning; tear to lower right corner of Hawks print; not examined outside of the frames.
