After Alessandro Allori (Italian, 1535-1607), Infant Christ Sleeping on a Cross

Oil on oak panel, 18th or 19th century, unsigned, the cross bearing the inscription "Cor Meum Vigilat" to horizontal end beneath the Christ Child's head, presented in a later Florentine style gilt frame.

Panel 13 1/4 x 16 3/4 in.; Frame dimensions 18 1/2 x 22 1/2 in.

Yellowing varnish with network of craquelure; areas of bitumen deformation; panel has bowed and is missing two vertical slats to verso; minor wear to frame.
