Manson was a legendary waterman from the Outer Banks. He joined the coast guard in 1935 and retired in 1972 with the rank of commander. This Manson Meekins willet illustrates the removable head construction which is remarkable as he was able to carved these at the young age of thirteen. They were hunted for six years and were stored in the rafters of a boat house until around 1980. His decoys are very rare and collectible.
