Creator of the fantasy-cut gemstone, Bernd Munsteiner's (1943-2024, Germany) gemstones have received worldwide acclaim. While his cutting designs were well outside traditional thought in cutting gemstones where he "wanted to carve asymmetrical negative spaces on precious stones," his stones enjoyed great appreciation and popularity. Munsteiner's "Dom Pedro", cut from the largest aquamarine discovered to date, is in the collection of the Smithsonian's Gem Collection. His gemstones are also housed in other museums and private collections.
