Circa 1770-1780, shaped crest rail and stiles with scratch bead, carved ear, pierced vasiform back splat, flush molded seat rail, slip seat, square straight legs with molded edge, inside chamfer, flush stretcher base.

35.5 x 22 x 20.5 in., seat height 16 in.

Deaccessioned from Historic Hope Foundation, Windsor, North Carolina

Note through mortise tenon at side rail to rear of stile.

Seat stretcher frame appears poplar; the chair retains the original rear corner blocks (front blocks are later); shrinkage splits to upper back splat; break and repair to shoe; all four legs cut and tipped.
