Late 19th century work bench made of oak and mixed hardwoods, multi-part form, including vices, stretcher base and lower central drawer, accompanied with several tools including block plane, clamps and others.

Accompany the lot is documentation of this bench and tools gifted from the Pug Moore family to Hope Plantation.

Preston “Pug” Moore was a lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. After graduating from the local high school, he went to work in his father’s business Moore’s Antique Shop. Moore became a master craftsman of 18th century furniture. His fine works are in numerous historic sites in North Carolina including Tryon Palace, Historic Halifax, the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh and Hope Plantation in New Bern.
