(Boards with light scuffing and a mark to the front, corners, joints, and spine ends rubbed; hinge cracking; 19th-century ownership inscription on front free endpaper verso; pages lightly toned with occasional finger grime, and mild foxing concentrated at endpapers; without publisher's advertisements at the beginning; about very good.)

A note on the first free endpaper verso states that the fore-edge painting depicts "Lydicks Mill & House on Bronx River. Now the site of the Bronx Zoo New York." (Corners and joints rubbed, mild discoloration to boards, and spine lightly rubbed and creased; interior with toning, occasional foxing and offsetting, and endpapers with edge chips and 19th- and 20th-century ownership inscriptions; hinge cracking; engraving no. 19 with vertical fold and associated tears; about very good.)
