The Remington Model 1858, also known as the Remington New Model Army, was a robust .44 caliber percussion revolver introduced in 1858. Noted for its solid frame and top-strap design, it offered greater strength and accuracy compared to its contemporaries. With a 6-shot cylinder, it became popular among Union soldiers during the Civil War and was appreciated for its reliability and ease of maintenance. The Model 1858 remained in production until the late 19th century and is regarded as one of the classic revolvers of the period.
