The Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver, designed by Samuel Colt, was one of the most iconic sidearms of the 19th century. Introduced in 1850, this .36-caliber, single-action, cap-and-ball revolver quickly gained popularity for its reliability, ease of handling, and relatively lightweight design. Although it was called the "Navy" model, it was widely used by both civilians and military forces, including the U.S. Army, during the period leading up to and through the American Civil War.
