Private Collection, Jackson Hole, Wyoming DOM: 1830s to 1860s. FFL Status: Antique.
The pepperbox was the first widely successful repeating handgun. From the early 1830s to the 1860s, companies manufactured over 50 different variations of revolving pepperbox-type pistols. These firearms were commercially successful and competed effectively with Colt's revolving handguns for more than a decade. They were widely used throughout the United States, as well as in Mexico and during the U.S. Civil War. Most pepperboxes are double-action only, with a cluster of barrels rotating to present a new shot each time the trigger is pulled.
Overall good estate condition, action revolves and strikes, barrel has pitting and all marks are illegible and worn, inlays are missing from wooden grips.
