Thomas Bartholomew Bailey Griffin was an American painter best known for his impressionistic landscapes, particularly of the Catskill Mountains and the Delaware River. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he received formal art education at the National Academy of Design in New York, where he exhibited works such as
Views from the Catskills (from Haine's Corners) and
Hunter Mountain, Catskills in 1896. Griffin later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, establishing a studio and continuing to produce landscapes that captured the natural beauty of the northeastern United States. His works are characterized by their vibrant portrayal of light and atmosphere, contributing to the American Impressionist movement.
