Virginia Beach, Virginia, circa 2015, carved and painted wood, incised TINK on bottom with wall mount hardware.
Length 16 in.
Spencer Tinkham developed a deep fascination with nature from an early age, drawn to the diverse life along Chesapeake Bay's tributaries. He realized he could preserve his fleeting encounters with nature through sculpture, particularly inspired by migratory shorebirds and waterfowl. Tinkham's work is rooted in the long tradition of nature-inspired wooden sculptures, from duck decoys to totem poles. Self-taught, he uses primitive tools such as box cutters, hacksaws, and wood rasps to craft his pieces.
