The Winchester Model 1892 was introduced in 1892 as a lever-action rifle designed by John Browning. It was developed as a lighter and more compact alternative to the earlier Model 1886, making it particularly suitable for cowboy action shooting and small game hunting.
Chambered in various cartridges, including .44-40 Winchester and .38-40 Winchester, the Model 1892 quickly gained popularity for its smooth operation, reliability, and relatively quick cycling. Its robust design allowed it to handle the pressures of the more powerful cartridges of the time.
Overall good to very good estate condition, barrel and receiver have surface scratches and finish wear, stock has field marks from age and use, buttstock has five 1 in. scars.
