Private North Carolina collection
Acquired from well-known Civil War dealer Dave Taylor of Sylvania, Ohio in 1999. The Confederate "Dog River" sabers are those made by unknown Southern makers throughout the region and this one is a classic representative of the type. Included is Mr. Taylor's letter regarding this saber.
The unmarked blade with overall light pitting; attractive original patina to the brass elements; the oil cloth on the grip has minor chips and has been replaced; the scabbard with overall oxidation and a split over the drag.
