Attributed to Lancaster county, late 18th century, two part form, poplar and walnut secondary, the upper dovetailed case with a cove molded cornice above two large hinged doors having recessed tombstone top, lipped edges, divided interior, fluted quarter columns with carved capitals, the desk with applied molding at top, hinged lipped lid with bread board ends and loper support, well developed interior with distinctive and intricate relief carved prospect door featuring shell, removable box with two pigeon holes and two small drawers revealing three more small secret drawers, flanked by two document drawers with relief carved stylized acanthus leaf, eight valanced pigeon holes, eight small drawers, the case with four molded and lipped graduated drawers having three quarter dust boards, original bold ogee bracket feet with pronounced spur.

Top case bottom back left corner with break and loss; lid: top above escutcheon lip loss (some pieces present in small drawer); pulls are old and in original holes; feet are original, front left foot side facing with shrinkage crack, front right foot both facings with shrinkage crack, right rear foot shrinkage crack; left/right side case shrinkage crack.
