Late 19th-early 20th century, patinated bronze, the first of Hermes or Mercury seated wearing the talaria, discovered at the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum and now at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples (8 1/4 x 7 3/4 x 5 in.), the second a model after the "Townley" discobolus, excavated in Hadrian’s Villa at Tivoli (10 1/4 x 6 1/2 x 5 in.).
