Paris, circa 1800, tortoiseshell box with 18K gold mounts, 1798-1809 hallmarks and guarantee mark, lid featuring a finely rendered watercolor on ivory portrait behind glass of a dark-haired Frenchman with hazel eyes, attired in gilt embroidered blue coat, frilled chemise and white cravat, against a gray ground, unsigned.
