one TLS, 5 1/4 x 8 in., written from E. M. Forster to Oliffe Legh Richmond, addressed from King's College, Cambridge, dated January 13, 1959, and signed by the author in brown ink.
one ALS written on a 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. card, from W. H. Auden to poet and critic Lloyd Frankenberg, addressed from Auden's home in Brooklyn Heights, NY, envelope date stamped May 14, 1941. In the letter, Auden thanks the critic for sending him his "generous" review and writes, "I didn't see it in The Tribune (being a Times reader) but I know what editors are. / Yours very sincerely / W. H. Auden."
one ALS, 6 1/4 X 3 1/2 in., from Thornton Wilder, written on his Hamden, CT letterhead and dated August 1967, in which he writes: "Cordial greetings to the SACCOs - and special birthday felicitations to Rhea / from / their old friend / Thornton Wilder / "TALLY - HO."
the remaining items include: one ALS from George Moore, dated May 16, 1893, discussing sending "the proof of a play I am about to publish; one TLS from novelist and poet Hamlin Garland on his East Live Oak Drive, Hollywood, California letterhead, addressed to Mrs. Davis and discussing people he knew growing up in Osage, Iowa, including his friend Burton Babcock, dated April 14, [1930], with the envelope and a postcard with a photo of Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage; one ALS written by Paul Horgan to "Roberta" on his Albuquerque, NM letterhead and dated April 17, 1934; one TLS from poet George Dillon on his Richmond, Virginia letterhead and dated December 10, 1946; one ALS (double-sided) and one short TLS from writer and historian Gerald Heard on Washington University, Saint Louis letterhead, both dated 1952 and addressed to Mrs. Robert G. Ford, with envelope; a copy of Jack Conroy's "Home to Moberly" Reprinted from the March 1968
