The first a Pennsylvania "show towel" of very fine linen embellished with cross-stitched floral motifs, stars, and various initials, signed "Elisabeth Kolp 1837 to top" and "November Ten 14 1841" to center (13.5 x 39.5 in.) (discoloration, loss to some stitches, staining);
the second an alphabet sampler (attributed Kenmore plantation, Virginia) on brown linen with small sections of decorative stitches in pink and green silk to upper register, then bands of cross-stitched capital letters separated by decorative stitched lines, ending with "1 2 3" in blue eyelet stitches (8.5 x 12 in.) (extensive fading, staining, loss to some stitches);
the third a block printed linen qalamkar, printed to one side with a field of diamond shapes, surrounded by multiple borders, with twisted and knotted fringe to all sides, verso stamped "Made in Iran / 18x18" with Persian script indicating Isfahan origin (17 x 19 in.) (fringe loss to two sides, holes, discoloration, loss to two corners.)
