The first is a Spider vase, salt glazed with free style over-glaze applications, it has six applied loop handles over a relief band above low knops, signed on the underside and dated 1999 (10 in.) and the second has a traditional Oribe glaze over a paneled body, signed on the underside 2000 (8 in.).
Private Collection, Charlotte, North Carolina A type of Japanese pottery that first appeared in the sixteenth century. It is stoneware recognized by its freely-applied glaze as well as its dramatic visual departure from the typical monochrome glazes of the period.
