Late 18th-early 19th century, wrought and forged iron, featuring a round form face with scrolling terminals, sliding forwards and backwards on the iron frame, fitted with a wrythen rod at the front.

Designed for toasting not only bread, but also small game, poultry, and fish, the hooks in the back hang on the grate, while the front handle can adjust nearer or further from the heat to reach the desired temperature.
