This iconic photograph of Marcel Duchamp rarely comes available at auction. The playful double imagery - suggestive of Duchamp's Dadaist leanings - was in fact an accident, as the double exposure occurred by chance while Victor Obsatz was taking the photograph. Duchamp was so pleased with the image that he selected it for the cover of his catalogue raisonné, and it remains one of the most recognizable images of the artist.

Few creases and several tiny dents, primarily only visible under raking light; spot at center.
