The first being Julian Vannerson's well-known photograph of General Robert E. Lee taken in 1863, the reverse of this print has the studio marks for Bendann Brothers of Baltimore (overall toning with penciled ID on verso, minor stains); the second image depicts Major William Fessenden Beasley of North Carolina's 2nd Junior Reserves Infantry wearing an officer's coat and colorized sash, the verso inscribed "Your Cousin / William F. Beasley." After being sick, wounded, hospitalized and furloughed, Beasley survived the war, dying in Plymouth, NC in 1923. (Overall toning).
