Signed by the author on the half-title with Wood's humorous signature below: "(and me, too) Grant Wood" followed by a small "WOOD" with the O's as glasses.

Spotting to boards concentrated at joints and along the edges, light toning to spine and along the top and bottom edges, a couple of areas of extremely light staining, and spine ends with minor rubbing; small edge stains on endpapers and the front paste-down with a small tear; gutter cracking at half-title and slight separation from text block at head; areas of paper wear to half-title, occasional browning and light cracking at gutters with a couple of small and inconspicuous areas of repair, and the seventh illustration with 1 1/8-in. tear; pages with light toning and occasional minor grime and creasing; an overall extremely clean interior with bright images; jacket with toning, light grime/marks, a few small stains including areas of damp staining concentrated at tail of spine, edge wear with occasional heavy chipping, and spine with creasing. Good to very good.
